On the 14th of Oct the Briar Woods volleyball program faced the Lightridge Rams in a close 4 set match. Throughout the volleyball season each game has been to get ready for districts. Dig pink isn’t just a game for the Falcons, yet it is a way to represent all the families that had a close interaction with breast cancer. On Oct. 14 our Falcons volleyball team faced Light Ridge for the second time in their season, honoring our Dig Pink. ¨Dig pink would definitely be something revolutionary in the future in other sports since it is so widely known and supported, I do see it becoming a start to more charitable events¨ said by Freshmen coach Regina Vanessa O. The last time the Falcons faced Light Ridge it had ended in a not such a warm end result. We had lost all sets playing best out of 5. After that sweep, the Falcons had trained harder and stronger. Dig Pink is so much more than just a volleyball game, it is a time when the volleyball program grows awareness towards breast cancer, “All ticket profits went to multiple organizations” said by JV coach and former player Sam Schleyer. In the tight match against Light Ridge, both teams went back and forth and fought for many points. In the 4 set thriller match,Lightridge took the first set 28-26. They continued their momentum in the second set, winning 25-18 . After the two minute break in between, Briar Woods evaluated and came back strong, winning the third set with a score of 26-24, pushing for a 4th set. Having faced a tough team the Falcons had given it their all and ended with a final score of 25-10, Light Ridge winning the final game. Even though they lost, the Falcons kept pushing and gave everyone who came to support a game worthwhile. Keeping it very close, though the Falcons lost they had fought for all points and kept Lightridge pushing to win, representing Breast cancer awareness in the best possible way, and getting tickets scales to help the charity.
