SALT LAKE CITY – Whitney Leavitt is leaving Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives after announcing her departure during a live Broadway performance of Chicago.
The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives follows members of the MomTok influencer community as their personal lives and online personas intersect on screen.
During a May 3 performance of Chicago, Leavitt, who appears as Roxie Hart in the production, revealed the news while remaining in character. According to TMZ, video from the performance shows her reading a staged newspaper headline and saying, “What is that? Let me see. Whitney Leavitt announces she’s leaving The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives.”
The moment drew applause from the audience and circulated widely on social media. People and Page Six reported on the announcement, describing it as part of her final appearance in the production.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Leavitt said she was stepping away from the reality series to focus on theater and new creative opportunities, describing it as a shift in her career direction. During an appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, she also announced, “I’ve started a production company!” as she expands her career beyond reality television.
Her current role in Chicago as Roxie Hart marks a transition from social media and reality television into stage performance.
Leavitt will complete filming for the upcoming season before officially exiting the series, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The series continues to follow members of the MomTok group, documenting both their online personas and personal lives as they overlap on screen.
Her departure marks a significant cast change to the franchise as it continues to evolve beyond its original group of creators, with members increasingly pursuing individual projects outside of social media and reality television. Another familiar face exits the series as MomTok continues to redefine itself on screen.
