On Monday, Dec. 16, a student opened fire at the Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, WI, tragically killing three people, including the shooter, and injuring six more.
According to the Guardian, a second grader at Abundant Life called 911 to report the shooting a few minutes before 11 a.m. The shooter was reportedly a 15-year old female student who died of self-inflicted gun wounds shortly after the arrival of the officers. This shooting is one in the series of over 490 mass shootings that have occurred in the United States in 2024 only.
The shooting has, once again, reopened the discussion about gun control, with president Joe Biden releasing a statement stating “Today, families in Madison, Wisconsin, are grieving the loss of those who were killed and wounded at Abundant Life Christian School. It’s shocking and unconscionable. We need Congress to act. Now”. A candlelight vigil was held on Tuesday, Dec. 17, to commemorate the memory of the victims (WKOW)
