It Ends With Us, a film adapted from A Colleen Hoover novel, is about a florist from Boston named Lily (Blake Lively) who has a complicated love triangle with her abusive boyfriend Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni) and her first love Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar).
Since the release, the film has been a success in the box office bringing $350 million worldwide. Despite being successful financially, behind the scenes Baldoni and Lively didn’t have the best relationship.
During the premiere, fans started to question why Lively and Baldoni weren’t photographed on the red carpet together. The co-stars also did no interviews together during the press tour, which Baldoni didn’t attend.
The internet also recognized that Lively and author Hoover do not follow Baldoni on social media platforms.
In December, Lively filed a complaint against her co-star that accused Baldoni of engaging in “inappropriate and unwelcome behavior” as well as a smear campaign to “destroy” her reputation.
Baldoni has denied these allegations and on January 16, Baldoni filed a $400 million countersuit against Lively claiming she “hijacked” the film he was directing as well as defamation and extortion. It’s not just Lively being blamed in the 179-page document, Ryan Reynolds is also implicated in six on the seven claims.
But it doesn’t end there, once again the internet realized in Reynolds newest film, Deadpool & Wolverine that one of the characters Nicepool (portrayed by Reynolds), seemed to have similar characteristics related to Baldoni. One of the scenes showed Reynolds wearing a man bun, a style Baldoni had previously worn for years. This also involves analyzing female body language, which aligns with Baldoni’s critique of fat-shaming directed at Lively while on set.
The documents also obtained text messages from Baldoni and Lively. One of the text messages made a reference to “Taylor.” Fans of Lively know she has been longtime best friends with Taylor Swift. In a recent video released by Entertainment Tonight, an image appeared showing a text Lively sent to Baldoni, Blake mentions Swift and Reynolds are like her “dragons. For better or worse, but usually for better. Because my dragons also protect those I fight for.”
What will happen next? Will Lively and Reynolds have to pay the $400 million? Does Justin have his freedom? It’s not official yet however, it is possible that it will end in court.
