From accidentally being caught in someone’s TikTok with the worst posture that anyone has ever seen to people taking their sweet time while walking and taking the most space in the hallway, everyone has an ick. The Briar Woods Falcons had a lot of say about theirs.

Number One: Getting Food Spat on You

There is nothing worse than your friend in full blown rant mode during lunch and you see a piece of their pizza fly towards your mouth, making you want to disinfect your whole face. It’s happened to all of us unfortunately, and there is nothing worse than being the other person and seeing a piece of your lunch on someone else.

Semon Fana, a sophomore explains how repulsive it truly is, “It is so disgusting, people who are chewing and spit all their food on you is a huge ick I have, it makes me not wanna talk anymore” said Fana.

Number Two: Slow Walkers

Of course, a “Briar Ick List” would not be complete without slow walkers,  always testing your patience at the worst moments in time and they are ALWAYS taking up the most space in the hallways so you have to wait until they reach their destination. 

Maria Ramos, a sophomore and a Health and Medical Sciences Academy (HAMSci) student, emphasizes her deep hatred for slow walkers, “I know I’m a slow walker, but I stay really close to the lockers so people can pass around me. But no, they all have to walk in the middle of the hallway!” said Ramos. 

Number Three: Everyone is Wearing the Same Thing

While strolling through the hallway at Briar Woods it isn’t out of the ordinary to twin with another person, just a funny coincidence and both of you laugh it off and awkwardly walk away. This isn’t the case anymore, everyone seems to be wearing the exact same colors now, say goodbye to uniqueness! There is nothing worse than your favorite color becoming a micro trend, and it really makes you not want to wear your favorite red polka shirt anymore. 

Eleanor Stewart, a sophomore who participates in marching band says we are currently in a ‘burgundy apocalypse.’“It’s just too much, everyone is wearing the same color and it’s so boring, “ said Stewart.

At the end of the day, we’ve all experienced these cringe worthy moments that give us the biggest ick and make us want to pull our hair out, but these little quirks make Briar, well Briar. These are the types of moments that we will never forget and laugh off 20 years from now. So, while you’re embarrassed by tripping up the stairs in front of your crush or running through the hallway with your backpack on, just remember you will look back in a few years and smile.
