The NFL free agency kicked off on March 12, 2025, and has begun with some big moves. From the Commanders to the Texans, teams are working to build the best team they can for the 2025 season.
Deebo Samuel has been traded to the Washington Commanders this offseason. Ezekiel Elliott was traded from the Cowboys to the Chargers practice squad and will then be promoted or activated to running back. Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire went to the New Orleans Saints. The Seahawks have released their franchise wide receiver Tyler Lockett. In terms of equal trades, CJ Gardner-Johnson, a safety formerly with the Eagles, was traded to the Houston Texans, in return the Eagles got Kenyon Green and a draft pick. D.J. Reed went to the Detroit Lions to improve their defense. Davante Adams went to the Rams making their wide receiver core one of the best in the NFL. Demarcus Lawrence signed with the Seahawks three year contract at $42 Million. Rumored to be leaving the Browns, Jameson Winston is an unrestricted free agent. Cooper Kupp moves his way to Washington to join Jaxon Smith-Njigba on the Seattle Seahawks.
The most interesting trade, to this sports fan, was Deandre Hopkins, who signed a contract deal with the Ravens. As his prime is coming to a close, he has been missing passes that he would normally catch as shown in the 2025 Super Bowl missing passes in the mid-field.
Opting to stay with their teams, Joey Bosa stayed with the Bills for a one year and Myles Garrett and Nick Chubb remained with the Browns. Bills quarterback Josh Allen stays in Buffalo for an additional six years for $330 million dollars. The Eagles re-sign Saquon Barkley for two more years after this year’s super bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs.
The 2025 Football Free Agency is showing the fans that this new season could be interesting. There will be new competition free agency closes on July 22 so their will be more trades that happen
