On November 18, the Washington Capitals captain, Alex Ovechkin, suffered a leg on leg collision, which resulted in a leg fracture sending a short stop to his career.
Although he is going to be out for 4-6 weeks, photos and videos have been released of Ovechkin back on the ice less than 25 days after his injury. His injury also stopped him from potentially beating Wayne Gretzky’s world record of goals scored in the NHL with Ovechkin only being 26 goals away.
Sportskeeda, a global sports and Esports media, says “ Wayne Gretzky, nicknamed “The Great One,” fully supports Alex Ovechkin, ‘The Great Eight’ breaking his all-time goal record of 894.”
“Oh yeah, of course,” Gretzky said of Ovechkin reaching and breaking his record. “It’s just a matter of time, whether it’s late this year, early next year, whenever. I mean, he’s a great player. He’s a great goal scorer.”
Before Ovechkin went down with the leg fracture, he scored a total of 15 goals in 18 games and it was looking very good for him until Jack McBain, a left wing on the Utah Hockey Club team, collided with Ovechkin.
