Falcon Regiment’s first performance

The Falcon Regiment prepares for its first performance of the season
Categories:

On September 27, the Briar Woods Falcon Regiment Marching Band will be performing at the annual “Showcase of Bands”, which will be hosted at Herndon High School’s Herndon Stadium and will feature several other bands. This will be the first performance of the fall band season for the Falcon Regiment.

The Falcon Regiment has been preparing for several months to perform their show “Escape the Lost Pyramid” at Herndon. According to the director of bands and fine arts department chair Duane Minnick, the Falcon Regiment has high spirits for their performance at Herndon, “The attitude is positive and very high energy.” Additionally, Minnick says the band “has the potential to be one of the best bands”, as long as they continue to improve during its rehearsals, “If we do not continue to get better, then we won’t reach our potential, which we are fully capable of.”

The show consists of fully original visual components, some of which include original body moves for different sections of the Falcon Regiment, an original marching drill which they have prepared to perform at Herndon, props that will be laid out across the turf, and a mummy on stilts, which will be the centerpiece of the show.

The show will also be accompanied by music composed by Randall Standridge. As described by Minnick, the music is “Egyptian and Middle Eastern flavored”. The music consists of original pieces by Randall Standridge, but also includes pieces from French composer Camille Saint-Saëns, and Russian composer Rimsky-Korsakov.
