As the Briar Woods High School volleyball season comes to an end, the team is preparing to say goodbye to their four outstanding senior players, Katie Bowen, Carly Adams, Michelle Herbert, and Molly Gardner. Each senior gave their own advice and courage to support and carry the Freshman filled team, leading them to an outstanding first High School season. The seniors played their final game on Thursday, Oct. 23, ending with a 3-0 win against Stone Bridge High School. After an amazing season end with a win, they all say their goodbyes to the Briar team, moving on to a new segment of their life.
Herbert, a middle blocker on the team, says that “it is a bittersweet feeling” leaving the team, believing other senior players would feel the same. For Herbert especially, leaving the team, after playing with them for four years and being part of an atmosphere that helped her grow and change, is difficult. Calling it “bittersweet” because she is both sad about leaving the “family” and excited about entering the new stage in her life. She plans to continue playing volleyball in club instead of choosing to go D2 or D3, while at college.
