With Trump’s new policies coming into order, many changes are being made regarding gender and identity in schools. Previously, Biden made it so that every student was called by their preferred pronouns and names, as a way to help some with their “social transition.”
According to Loudoun Now, America’s First Legal, a law group made by former Trump advisor Stephen Miller, is challenging the gender affirming policies in the NOVA school divisions. This includes Loudoun, specifically through a Department of Education investigation.
Trump’s recent executive order says that parents’ rights have been broken by schools since they are teaching acceptance about gender identity. His orders also take funding away from schools who hide gender identities from parents or promote the transition of a trans student. According to The Hill, The Education Department is investigating if 5 NOVA school districts violated Title IX and Trump’s recent orders.
This case leans towards school bathrooms, locker rooms, and even the usage of names in classrooms, making it highly controversial. The likely action the schools and districts will be taking is listening to the authority rather than fighting them, to avoid further repercussions. As a result of this, parents and gender rights activists might rage at their school boards, although they still have Trump’s executive orders blocking them.
