Taylor Swift announced the release of the Tortured Poets Department (TTPD) will be released on April 19, 2024. Swift announced the release of TTPD on Feb 4 during her grammy speech after she won album of the year for “Midnights.”
Many of Swift’s fans believed the world renowned artist would address a new release at the Grammys, but many believe it would be “Reputation -Taylor’s Version” or “Debut – Taylor’s Version.” Fans were shocked when she released TTPD.
“I was SO excited. There’s nothing quite like receiving new music and no one thought we would be getting a new album until after the Eras tour,” says Kathryn Wenborn.
Although many fans wanted “Reputation-TV” and “Debut-TV,” they are just as excited to have a new album coming later this month. English teacher and avid Swiftie, Jennifer Bridges has a good theory for when the two albums may be released. There are two Friday the 13th’s in 2024 and they both fall within 112 days of each other. September 13th and December 13th. “I love that there are just 2 left, her name and her reputation,” says Bridges. Bridges also made a statement about how December 13th is Swift’s birthday and it would be perfect for her to release “Rep-TV” on September 13th and “Debut-TV” on her birthday.
TTPD is classified as pop, but what is it classified in Swift’s albums? “I get the vibe that it’s going to be ‘Folklore’ with some ‘Speak Now,’” says Bridges. But Wenborn says, “It might be a mix of ‘Rep’ and ‘Folklore.’” Overall it sounds like people think that this album will definitely have some “Folklore” in it and people are very excited for it.
