Varsity Girls Basketball Heading To States

Karissa Yeskis, Reporter

The Briar Woods Girls Varsity Basketball team has qualified for the state tournament for the first time in Briar Woods history. The team will play in a game on February 28th, at Riverside, against Woodgrove. If the girls team wins, they will host the state tournament on March 3 at Briar Woods; if the girls don’t win on March 28th, they will still go to the state tournament, but they will not host.

After having a rocky start to the season, the girls basketball team is finally ready to go into the state tournament with a few wins under their belts. “I’ve only been here for a few years, but I’ve never been part of such a close team before,” said Senior Girls Basketball player Casey O’Connor. “We are like family. Our one goal at the beginning of the year was to go to states and we achieved that goal!”

No matter what the outcome, the Briar Woods Girls Varsity basketball team has made history. Be sure to head out and support them at Regionals on February 28th and States on March 6th!
