Spring is in full bloom! Loudoun County is currently undergoing a change in weather, moving from cold to warmer conditions. As this transition occurs, citizens get to see a beautiful change in nature. With this, there are many opportunities to check out spring plants, such as vibrant flowers. It is a great chance to show appreciation for our earth and gain a better understanding of natural life.
Avid florists and nature enthusiasts look forward to this season as there are many events around Virginia centered around floristry. Such as, Fields of Flowers, a pick your own flower farm in Purcellville. Several different types of vibrant flowers are planted during this time, for visitors to come and pick out which one they would like to bring home!
There are various festivals around Virginia, including the Shenandoah Apple Blossom Festival and Leesburg Flower and Garden Festival, where individuals can enjoy the immersive experience of planting and picking out various types of flowers.
While flowers are beautiful and many keep flowers as a piece of decoration, they are very versatile. Artists and crafty individuals utilize flowers to accessorize and add to artwork. Flowers are used in many scented delights, such as candles and perfumes. They can also be made into beautiful bouquets and wreaths.
Krishna Kundar, a freshman at Briar Woods says, “I enjoy painting flowers because it is calming and creative. My love for nature and making things beautiful and artsy led me to floristry!”
Other falcons interested in floristry can join the gardening club at Briar Woods, to learn more about nature and all that we can do for the earth. This is also a great way to meet like-minded individuals who have a passion for planting! Outside of school, students can start their own gardens, which is great for the environment, and a very enjoyable hobby.
Flowers may be fun to look at, but they are an essential part of our world. The change in nature signifies the transitional period from winter, into the warm highly vegetated months where flowers thrive in.
