The Falcons First Bite recently filmed their first episode at My Thai Place located in the Brambleton Town Center. For context, these reviews were made for the students and faculty of Briar Woods High School.
In order for a proper review, the Falcons: Srilekha Simhadri and Anannya Jadhav, juniors, evaluated the establishment based on four factors. These factors were created in order to repeat the same fashion with other restaurants, to ensure a fair and trustworthy rating for each dine in experience. These four factors are service, ambience, taste, and versatility.
Service quality can be defined as the respectfulness, responsiveness, and informational side that a restaurant has. In order for a restaurant’s experience to be uplifting and memorable, it needs to have these qualities. When the Falcons first ordered their food, they felt that the waiter had a good grasp of the ingredients and popularity of the items of the menu which they really liked. On top of that, the waiters created conversation with them, which they also really enjoyed. Also, the food arrived quickly, even though they ordered elaborate dishes. Overall, this restaurant’s service quality exceeds many other restaurants’ service.
“Everytime I go to My Thai Place, I am always pleased with the way the waiters greet the customers and help them order. I honestly wish it was like that in other places,” said Vishnavi Jaithavaram, a junior from Briar Woods High School.
Next, the Falcons assessed the restaurant’s ambience. Ambience can be defined as the character and atmosphere of a specific environment. Right from the start, as soon as they walked into the restaurant, they were treated with the smell of fresh food and pumpkin spice candles. Not only that, but the restaurant was decorated with fall and Halloween decorations, which was perfect, and very timely due to the season. The restaurant’s overall vibe was very snazzy, with many nature like decorations hanging from the ceiling. This restaurant deserves bonus points as their description in the website claims that they give a “snazzy” dine in experience, to which the Falcons approve of.
“I think that the place is super pretty and rather whimsical looking. Kudos to whoever maintained it like that for so many years,” said Kanishka Rachamadugu, a junior from Briar Woods High School.
After ambience comes taste, the best and most important part. The falcons made sure to order two of the most popular Thai dishes, along with two well known Thai drinks. Their order was a Chicken Pad Thai, chicken tom yum soup, Thai Iced Tea, and Thai Iced Coffee. The falcons loved the Chicken Pad Thai as it was flavourful, and filled with multiple textures. However, they did not find the tom yum soup very appetizing. They thought it lacked a flavor profile, and it could be a recipe for improvement. The drinks were also in the same range for taste. Although they thoroughly enjoyed the simple and traditional Thai iced tea, they really did not like the iced coffee. They recall it being so sweet that it hurt their taste buds. Although some of the items were hit or miss, overall, the food was solid, and they will definitely be coming back for the chicken pad Thai!
“My Thai Place has been one of my favorite places to go to in Brambleton. Not only do they always switch up the decorations based on the season, but the food is always on point,” said Akanksha Kakaralapudi, a sophomore from Rock Ridge High School.
Lastly, in order for a restaurant to thrive, it must be versatile. Versatility is defined as being able to adapt to many different functions and activities, however in restaurant slang it is used as a way to see if restaurants can adapt to different diets. First of all, the falcons asked if they were able to take out any nuts in the dishes, to see if they understood the severity of allergies. Not only did they say they could, but they even offered to make the food on a new and clean pan. Next, the falcons scavenged through the menu to find vegetarian options. What they saw was quite surprising since they also saw vegan options, and even vegan protein substitutes like tofu. As a result of this, the falcons agree that it is safe to say that My Thai Place is definitely a versatile restaurant.
All in all, My Thai Place offered not only a beautiful experience, but also a great meal. The falcons definitely recommend people to try this restaurant out, whether it be for a quick meal, or a classy night out with the people you love the most.
