Many new movies have been released in 2024 including Deadpool vs Wolverine, Inside Out 2, Despicable Me 4, Twisters, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Terrifier 3, and so many more. People can get some really good ideas for costumes from these films. So which costumes are likely to be trending this year?

In the past, movies and television have inspired some of the most popular costumes: Barbie in 2023, Stranger Things in 2022, Cruella in 2021, and Witches in 2020. Along with movies being a popular way to dress up, actress, Jenna Ortega, will definitely have a big influence on Halloween costumes this year after being in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and announcing that Wednesday season 2 is in production. 

According to the Martha Stewart blog, writer Olivia McIntosh says, “The most popular costumes of 2024 are predicted to be: Glinda and Elphaba from the new movie, Wicked, Taylor Swift, Bridgerton, Raygun, Deadpool and Wolverine, Beetlejuice, Wednesday Addams, Inside Out 2 characters, Harley Quinn and the Joker, Simone Biles, Ilona Maher, Sabrina Carpenter, and Chappell Roan.”

Ana Bachmeier, a sophomore at Briar Woods says “This year for Halloween I decided I want to dress up as a cat because its easier to recreate than other costumes and it’s super cute.”
