With 7 state championships, the Briar Woods Varsity Cheerleaders are hoping to earn another trophy to add to their collection.
Last year, the varsity team was able to make it to the state finals and earn themselves the title of the VHSL State Champions with 9 seniors, 10 juniors, 5 sophomores and 1 freshman.
On September 25, marked their first competition of the season against South Lakes High School, earning their very first win.
Senior Camille Golinvaux has entered her 4th year on the team. According to Golinvaux, the best part of the competition “was us bonding as a team dancing to hype music.”
“Our team did so well! We put the best routine we could out there and killed it!” exclaims Golinvaux.
“Coach Curry says God has a plan for us and everything happens for a reason,” Golinvaux on advice that helps her focus before competitions and the challenges of everyday life.
Because of their win last year Golinvaux says “this season there are a lot of eyes on us! Everyone wants to know what we do next! I feel like we are constantly growing mentally and physically.”
