On Sept. 20 , the Briar Woods SCA came together in collaboration with other clubs to host the annual Briar Woods Homecoming Festival.
At the festival there were a lot of fun events to participate in for not only Briar Woods students but also the general community. There were approximately over 60 people, including staff members and their families, enjoying the inflatable rides, bracelets and face painting at the festival done by talented Briar Woods artists. Making this event a gathering that brings together the Briar Woods community.
Additionally, many clubs attended the fair such as Black Student Association, the Student Advisory club, and the Minority Student Council. This festival was a great opportunity for people to hang out before the big homecoming football game against North Stafford High School and to hype up school spirit.
It was in opportunity for students to lift their focus off of academic stress for a moment and enjoy time with friends and family. As described by Diya Karthikeyan, a sophomore volunteering for the student Advisory club, “The festival is really fun because it’s on a Friday and usually people are just like sitting in their rooms and doing nothing but now you can be here with your friends”.
Events such as the festival and Pep Rally are important for growing school spirit and just as a simple time for people to have fun as a Briar Woods community.
