On Monday, October 4th, the Briar Woods freshman football team won its sixth straight game of the season, giving them a 6-0 record. With most people talking about JV and Varsity, little is known about the talent on the freshman squad. With a stellar defense led by Tyler Yoder that is only allowing an average of 4.8 points a game, it leaves quarterback Brady Carmical and the offense with an easy job at hand. Although, this doesn’t mean the offense doesn’t score. They’re averaging more than 23 points per game and are defeating opponents in a dominant fashion. Last week Briar Woods won a close game against the Stone Bridge Bulldogs on a fourth quarter 40-yard rushing touchdown with about three minutes left. The Briar Woods run game excelled in this one, with both of their touchdowns coming from 30 or more-yard runs.

Although, the Falcons have only played against opponents at home and will finish the season with three straight road games, it will be interesting to see how the team adapts to the fans mostly rooting for the opposing side. Coming up, Briar will play Independence High School at 5;30 p.m. on Tuesday the 12th and Potomac Falls High School at 5:30 p.m. on Monday the 18th, and they will finish their regular season at Riverside High School on Thursday the 28th at 5:30 p.m. against the Rams.

Come and support your freshman squad and help cheer them on!
