The Briar Boys Lacrosse gets their first win of the season in a tough battle against Dominion.

The Falcons looked to bounce back from their tough loss to John Champe a couple of days ago, and they did, beating the Titans 15-9. It was smooth sailing for the Falcons to start the game, leading 4-0 at the end of the first. It looked like it would be a blowout against a team [Dominion] that just went undefeated in the regular season last year. That quickly changed as the Titans came back to tie the game at the halfway point of the second quarter. The Falcons gained momentum and extended the lead by four as the quarter ended, 8-4 by halftime.

The third quarter is where the Falcons put the dagger in the Titans by outscoring them 5-3. A dominating performance in the third led to a quiet fourth for both teams as a combined 4 points were scored. The defensive effort from the Falcons led to Dominion scoring the least amount of points in a game since the 2019-20 season. Senior Luke Schalow won both offensive and defensive player of the game with his stellar performance; he is the first player in BW lax history to win both offensive and defensive player of the game. Other notable performances go to Junior Ben Pearsall and Senior Scotty Lufkin.

Speaking to one fan, he said, “They played great compared to last game against a way better opponent. I’m excited for what’s in store for the season if we can keep winning and pulling off upsets.” Another fan added, “It’s a great day to be a Falcon; beating a good team like Dominion is always something to keep in mind when playing later in the season. It shows that we are also a team to look out for come playoffs even though it’s earlier in the season. I am still looking forward to a deep run Briar usually pulls off.”

With still the rest of the season to play, Briar comes out of the gate strong and looks to continue their ways of winning.
